Links and Resources
This page is a collection of sites, book and other resources that I like, for one reason or another. Think of it as a way to take this site as starting point and expand further.
Blogs & communities
A Discord server I've created together with other people, dedicated to all forms of DIY electronics, with a focus on audio and music. Other kinds of DIY and electronics are also welcome. Probably the best place to have a chat together.
Forum dedicated to effects pedal circuits, where I'm active, especially regarding original circuits. You probably know it already, but just in case...
Another long-running blog about the DIY side of effects pedals. Lots of interesting discussions and information accumulated over the years.
Blog of my friend Trevor. You will find a variety of electronics projects, a couple of which we've worked on together.
Blog of my friend chip. Lots of pedal and instrument builds paired with some writing that is enough to keep you interested on its own. And hey, many of those circuits are mine!
Github page of a Discord friend with CC pcb layouts of some of my circuits and more!
Blog of my friend Yeti with interesting audio electronics posts.
Blog of G7D30N, another friend from Discord, about guitar electronics.
Online resources
Site that has been running for decades, by a very influential figure in the DIY stompbox world. A lot of information, but the site isn't the best organized, so be sure to keep digging because there's more than meets the eye.
Another very influential person, another site that's nearing 30 years of age. Be sure to check the "lab notebook" and the blog.
A site covering both vacuum tubes and stompboxes. Both are treated with a refreshingly modern and critical approach. A very good resource for getting started with tubes. Check out the books too.
Books
There's a reason this book is one of the most recommended for electronics beginners. It covers about everything, without assuming much prior knowledge, but in a conclusive, engaging and practical way. The 3rd edition is much more recent, but older ones are fine too.
A book focused on analog audio design, with a focus on low noise and distortion. This book has changed my approach to electronics for the better. Feel free to skip those later chapters that aren't of immediate interest.
A book about good design for valve instrument preamplifiers that starts from the basics. Both traditional and innovative tecniques. Also a great book about analog audio electronics in general.
